Behind the scenes: The Making of Kendrick Lamar’s “King Kunta” Video

Kendrick released his visual for King Kunta a couple weeks ago as I’m sure many of you have seen as it already has over 10 million views on vevo. In the video Kendrick Lamar appears to be back home in Compton. This visual is just as funky and cool as the record. Kendrick is seen riding through the hood in an old school, dancing with the homies, and most importantly¬†flexing this melanin.

The video is directed by The Lil Homies and Director X and this exclusive behind the scenes slip is captured by TDE’s Christian San Jose. In the clip we hear and see an older gentlemen explain to us what King Kunta means. He tells us that “King Kunta stands for strength, power, individual, together, unity, children, teenagers, adults, & all of us. Hand in hand. We push. Everybody rises – UP.” Nuff said. Do the damn thing Kendrick baby. We need you right now.

I hope you all enjoy the fun yet powerful clip just as much as I did. Let’s LOVE, UNITE, AND RISE.
